I'm a fool for posting this, because I know I'm going to fall at the first hurdle of laziness; but I've registered for this year's now somewhat inaccurately named
National Novel Writing Month challenge: write 50,000 words in one month, which in length middles somewhere between your average novel and a novella.
I'm going to leave the given title completely unexplained. There are no prizes for completing this, and neither is there the time for the slow brewing of elaborate plots or ideas, so it's going to be a combination of sheer experimentation and willpower. It may never see the glaring light of anyone's eyes but my own, but you can track my progress - supposing I make any - on the site under the 'NaNo Stats' tab.
Wish me that willpower.
