So, Amelia and I had the idea of putting the completed first Act of
Starcustard into cherishable book form as one last present before Amelia runs off to Canada. For the past few months, since the story came to a temporary close last New Year's Eve, we've been working hard on revising, refining and generally polishing up all eight long chapters, painstakingly amending, clarifying and reorganising the text until it's as perfect as we can get it. We are hoping we didn't miss anything, or we may have to break down and sob some very bitter tears.
Act One weighs in at around
30,700 words overall. You can buy the book for
£4.03, which is presently equivalent to around
$8 or
€6 (edit: shipping costs are about £3.50 per item standard, less for slower delivery). There's a small preview provided on the site, showing the amazing presentation that Amelia also spent ages over. The book includes a brief foreword and the smallest preview of things to come in Act Two.
Starcustard will of course still be available online, and I'll get the new version of the text up as soon as I can face the effort. This book is for those who would prefer to have a more presentable copy to stick on their shelves and show off to all their friends and family.
Here it is, in the style of an authentic
Mel's Custard Café menu. Today is
Starcustard's third anniversay. Happy anniversary, all.
Here's Amelia's post.
